Indian women’s basketball team opened its campaign in the 18th Asian Games on the disappointing note, losing to Kazakhstan 61-79 in a preliminary round of Jakarta Group.
In the first two quarters of Indian women (13-18, 12-19), they tried to return to a 21-22 score in the third quarter but Kazakhstan lost in the fourth quarter with their rival 20-15 cheating.
They will face Chinese Taipei on Sunday, before a match of basketball 5 × 5 primary group on August 20th August 23 Unified Korea and host Indonesia respectively.
Handball is a dark journey in the Indian men’s team today as they had gone 29-40 in Iraq in a group D primary match.
Deepak Ahlawat (8) and Karamjeet Singh (6) were the highest goalscorers for India but they were defeated 13-18 in the first round in the second period here and then 16-22 it was not enough.
Indian male team defeated Chinese Taipei (28-38) on August 13 before losing 25-32 to Bahrain from August 15.
